I don’t know what I want to do in life... I’m afraid I’ll make the wrong choice..

I’ve failed and I don’t know what to do anymore... My family thinks I’d be good at it, but I’m not so sure...

To reach a destination, you must first set your sights…and often the problem is that we don’t have a clear idea of what you want. We are faced with difficult decisions to make at the end of secondary school and the beginning of post-secondary: to study, or not? A long cycle or a short one? Internships or experiences abroad? To refocus after failure or persevere? How to be sure to make the right choice, how to assert ourselves when faced with the opinions and expectations of those around us?

For a few years now, I have specialised with Bénédicte Etienne in youth orientation and support (for those 17-25 years old) who are considering their futures, whether it is before choosing a course of study, or after they’ve realised it wasn’t what they had hoped for.

Coaching aims to enable the young to better understand themselves, to connect to their strengths and talents, identifying their important values, which will follow them throughout their choices.

Our approach to coaching youth differs from the methodological framework provided by other structures (learning how to study, memorisation techniques, drills etc.) but precedes it and compliments it: before learning how to study effectively, it aims to enable the youth to connect to the strengths within them, their sources of motivation and to manage their fears and stress when dealing with the challenges they will face.

This coaching can be done individually or by class/group. We provide general, technical and professional secondary schools with orientation modules for secondary 5th and 6th, or professional 7th.

We also organise ad hoc workshops for youth groups on specific topics like managing stress before exams, self-awareness, motivation and endurance, proper goal-setting, etc.

For more information and details around agenda related to youth coaching activities, consult our Facebook page.

Forthcoming, on April 7 and 8, 2016, we organise a workshop in Brussels for youth aged between 17 – 23 years old, on the issue of orientation and choices for the future: what shall I do after highschool ? If I have failed my first university year, what’s next? How can I bounce back and ensure I make the good move to start again? More info: here.

Testimonials

“This half-day seemed to me as something that would be meaningful for our students overall. They were able, thanks to various exercises, to take time to reflect on who they are, and moreover to verbalise it without fear of being judged. I don’t think I’m being too bold by saying that they had plenty of positive reinforcement and probably could go recover a little confidence in themselves which is, for many, buried beneath many of life’s obstacles. Your approach and the way the various activities are facilitated is undoubtedly one of your strengths, I found that students very quickly got to work and they became confident almost immediately. I can only reiterate my satisfaction and enjoyment for having participated in this half-day…”
